WOW what a week, I think everyone sat down on Friday afternoon and heaved a sigh of relief! Congratulations to everyone who graduated this week - you all looked awesome! But congratulations and thanks too, to all the University staff and students who worked their arses off this week to pull off a really spectacular graduation!

Monday brought with it a few nerves as i prepared to graduate in History - it was a really great ceremony and awesome to applaud all my fellow students - some of whom i havent studied with since the early months of the first year! The highlight had to be seeing Paul Robeson JR get his Honorary fellowship. One of my most inspiring and interesting areas of historical study has been that of the American civil rights era. Seeing such a legend of the civil rights movement receive an honorary fellowship in my University was incredible!

My parents however decided that the day would be filled with amusing pictures of me in graduation robes- at the Brangwyn, on the beach (in a gale!) and in my office! Ancient humour never fails!!!

For the rest of the week i was out and about taking photos of graduates and doing a little bit of market research re the marquee. By the end of the week it seems it was a hit and a job well done. Graduates appreciated the ease of moving around campus and having their photos taken around various meaningful buildings - JC's, Divas and La Boulangerie!
Parents appreciated the opportunity to see the campus - many of whom had only seen bits or none at all! Amazingly though graduates were keen to have their photos taken outside of Fulton House - the centre of campus might not be the prettiest of buildings but it holds a massive amount of meaning to students.

The Grad Ball - another spot on success by the Ents Team - particularly well done to Russell and Hannah. The Liberty team really looked after us and it was a fantastic evening - sadly i once again learnt the lesson of drinking white/ sparkling wine as i became increasingly inebriated and irritatingly energetic - rather like a bouncy puppy!

Thursday offered the chance to represent the Union at graduations - those of you who saw me in those sexy robes i hope you got some snazzy pictures!!! I was sat with Simon right at the front of the stage and so couldn't see the students as they came up so it was a nice surprise to recognise some of them aas thye shook the Vice Chancellors hand! How some of the ladies walked in their heels i dont know - heroines of their day!

We finished the week with a Sabb planning meeting - many of the team are off and about on conferences over the next few weeks so wanted to get sorted early. Some really excellent ideas came up - especially the legend that is Felix - the man is a machine!

A former Sabb from Birmingham visited the Union at lunchtime and i was able to give her a tour of our fantastic Nursery. They are really keen to set one up but are having problems with funding and support. It was another excellent eye opener to the fantastic welfare services we are lucky enough to have here at Swansea.

So that was my week! Congrats and well done again to all those who graduated this week or worked hard to achieve another shining Swansea moment! Please make sure you check out the Alumni site http://alumni.swansea.ac.uk/
and keep in touch!!!! Graduation
